When to Climb
Climbing Kilimanjaro is possible throughout the year, but the optimal time is during the warm and dry months. Historically, the weather on Kilimanjaro was predictable, but due to global changes, it has become more unpredictable in recent years. The rainy season has been starting earlier, which is a trend observed in recent seasons. It is uncertain if this trend will continue.

The deciding factor
When considering the best time to climb mount kilimanjaro, weather is one of the main factor. Tanzania experiences two rainy seasons and two dry seasons every year.
January and February
January and February make up the Short Dry Season. It’s worth noting that sub-zero temperatures can occur at any time of the year on the higher slopes of Kilimanjaro.
March to may
The long rains typically occur from March to May, characterized by intense afternoon showers and high humidity. During this period, temperatures often reach 86°F (30°C) or more.
June to October
June to mid-october the most favorable season, with clear skies and abundant sunshine, and scarce rainfall. Temperatures are moderate, and early morning game drives may be chilly.
November to December
These are brief months of lighter and inconsistent rains, marking the beginning of the hottest period until the end of February. Temperatures during this time can reach as high as 104°F (40°C).
